We will have a very special guest speaker at our AZ Division Convention on October 8-9, 2010 in Tucson, AZ. This year’s convention is hosted by John R. Baylor Chapter 2298.  The speaker’s name is Bert Hayes-Davis, who is the Great-Great Grandson of our Confederate President Jefferson Davis.  Please encourage your membership to attend the convention in Tucson.  Bert Hayes-Davis will have such wonderful information to share with us about President Jefferson Davis.  It would be a shame to miss this opportunity.

Arizona’s Executive Board met at Marie Callender’s in Phoenix for their Winter Meeting on Wednesday, January 27, 2010.  A quorum was present, with eight executive board members in attendance.  After the invocation, Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, the National Anthem, the Salute to the Flag of the Confederate States of America, and the singing of “Dixie’s Land,” the business portion of the meeting began.

Officer and committee winter reports were read and filed.  Files in storage, Granddaughter’s Club Dues, Nominations for AZ Division Executive Board, Scholarship Fund, Children of the Confederacy, Confederate Memorial Day, and Summer Board were all discussed.

The meeting closed with the Benediction and then the joining of hands while singing the first verse of “Blest Be the Tie That Binds.”
