Chapter History

The Johnny Reb Chapter grew out of the kind urgings of Paulette Lollar, past President of the Thunderbird Chapter and chairman of building new chapters and revitalization of existing ones. All started coming together with our first meeting of prospectives members in March, 2008. Word of mouth, as well as newspaper announcements, brought in many ladies interested in learning more about their Southern ancestors. The Johnny Reb Chapter is named for both the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, USS John C. Stennis, fondly nicknamed “Johnny Reb” to pay homage to the namesake senator from Mississippi, as well as for the fighting men and boys who depicted such great courage, resiliency and pride in their Southern Heritage. Our members wish to carry on that same devotion and commitment through their rich legacy.

Chapter Activities

Our Chapter meets on the 4th Saturday of the months of October, December (subject to change), February and May at 11AM, followed by luncheon. We would welcome ALL those interested in learning more about their Southern ancestors and wanting to perpetuate their memory through education and community service. We will be working closely with our Veterans at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott, as well as looking to school programs for young children in our area.
