Memorial Ceremony for Ruins of Dragoon Springs Stage Station – May 1, 2010

March 13th, 2010

The memorial ceremony for Ruins of Dragoon Springs Stage Station will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Dragoon, AZ.

On May 5, 1862, a detachment from Company A, Arizona Rangers, was encamped at the ruins of the Dragoon Springs Stage Station.  They had been sent to round up stray cattle and horses to provision the Confederate Garrison at Tucson. Chiricahua Apache warriors attacked the troopers, killing four of them.  They were John Donaldson, Sam Ford, Ricardo, and an unknown Son of the South.  They were buried where they fell.  Each year, the Confederate Secret Service Camp 1710 hosts the Arizona Division’s memorial ceremony for these soldiers and for all who sacrificed for the Cause.

Please come and enjoy!
